Description

We are pleased to invite you to attend and participate in the Health Information Exchange (HIE) Stakeholder Summit being hosted by the DC Department of Health Care Finance (DHCF) and the DC HIE Policy Board. The Summit will take place Wednesday, September 10 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at George Washington University’s Marvin Center.

The Summit will bring together healthcare leaders representing a variety of organizations including hospitals & health systems, health insurers, ambulatory health centers, government agencies and patients. The Summit will be an opportunity to share ideas about what is working both locally and nationally in HIE, and to launch a stakeholder process that we envision will lead to development of a 3-5 year roadmap for HIE in the District. Summit agenda topics will include:

• Understanding HIE and Why it Matters
• HIE in the District
• HIE Governance and Financing Promising Practices
• Technology Approaches for DC HIE

Agenda and other information about the Summit will be forwarded in the coming weeks.

The Department of Health Care Finance (DHCF) is a District of Columbia Government agency responsible for administration of the Medicaid, CHIP, Immigrant Children’s, and the Health Care Alliance programs.  DHCF is also responsible for implementing provisions of several health care-related acts of Congress including the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, as well as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). Through its Health Care Reform & Innovation Administration (HCRIA), DHCF operates the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program which coordinates the distribution of incentive payments to eligible clinicians and hospitals for adopting and using electronic health records to improve patient care and quality. Health Information Exchange (HIE) is another HCRIA program which facilitates secure and efficient exchange of patient information among healthcare stakeholders.
